River City SC Rockets Earn GU14 Premier Division 1 Status
for 2008

The Rockets won all 3 games last weekend and are now P1. They were one of 4 teams to reach this the first weekend. Congrats!

River City SC Girls U19 State Cup Semi-Finals

Crossfire Premier beat River City SC 2-1 in a shoot out to advance to the State Cup finals. After 90 minutes of regulation play and two 15 minute overtimes the outcome was finally decided.
In the final Crossfire Premier beat Whatcom Rangers 2-1 in regulation.
The U19 State Cup was moved to the first weekend of June to allow for more college players to play. Here's a partial listing of a couple of the rosters:

Jeff Orwick Named WSYSA Competitive Coach of the Year.
Jeff Orwick, River City Club President, was recently awarded "Competitive Coach of the Year" by the Washington State Youth Soccer Association and honored at an awards banquet in the Seattle area. Gongratulations to Jeff and a big thank you for his many years of dedication to River City.

Tanner Hominga
passed away on April 24th after suffering a severe brain aneurysm the week before. A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 3 at Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene. Thank you to all for your ongoing support for Tanner and his family. River City Thunder completed a very successful run at State Cup, finally losing to Emerald City Green (defending champion) in the quarterfinals. In route to the quarterfinals, Thunder beat two P1 teams, Crossfire Premier and Emerald City White. Thunder, coached by Mark Lindsay, completed the State Premier League (P2) in 3rd place, being the only team in the league to beat next year's P1 team, FC Alliance. Congratulations to Thunder and many thanks to those who supported this team throughout the year!

The River City Fuzion GU-14 Premier had an outstanding year: going undefeated in LPTs; 3 tournament championships; 3rd place in Chinook Cup Gold (
Portland
); placing 3rd in the WSYSA P1 League this fall. They continued their success with an outstanding run in the Washington Championship State Cup, placing 1st in their prelim group, winning their elimination game 2-0, finally losing 1-0 to the Nationals in a hard fought Qtr final game. Congratulations Fuzion!

The River City Rockets GU-13 Premier team placed 1st in the "red and blue" division of the U13 Washington State Premier League this fall. They did it in stellar fashion with 10 wins 3 ties and 1 loss (see WSYSA standings), while allowing only 9 goals and scoring 34. Congratulations Rockets!

The River City BU19 Seely team ripped through the P1 league this fall with a record of 14-0. The team had 61 goals for and only 5 against over the season. Great job! |

River City Volunteer Week - Habitat for Humanity
River City teams participated in Habitat for Humanity over Labor Day weekend, where teams helped build houses for the needy in the Spokane Area. In addition, John Gomez (Coach, BU14) donated sinks and cabinets to the project.
