Congratulations to the three FC Spokane teams who competed in the 2013 Las Vegas Mayors Cup. All 3 teams competed well at this top class event in Las Vegas Nevada.
Our G-96 Black team competed against Las Vegas Premier of the ECNL losing 3-1, Colorado Edge Of Denver winning 3-2 and Current Michigan state Champions Vardar red
who also play ECNL playing to a draw 1-1. The G-96 Black team finished 2nd in their bracket.
Our G-96 White team drew three of their group play matches. 0-0 Vs. Colorado Storm and Nevada Wonders and 1-1 Vs. La Roca of Utah. They played a hard game and lost to Sherwood Park Phoenix of Canada. The G-96 White team showed well in a tough bracket.
Our B-97 Black team fresh from playing in the state cup semi final the weekend before started out with a loss to Sherwood Park Phoenix from Canada. Losing a game they dominated statistically but gave up a goal to lose 1-0. They followed up their loss with wins of 3-0, 1-0 and 5-0 against Elk Grove Everton of Canada, Westminster AFC of Colorado and Patterson YSA of Canada to setup a rematch of their opening game Vs. Sherwood Park Phoenix of Canada. The boys dominated the championship game and came out worthy 1-0 winners to bring home the championship.

Congratulations to our FC Spokane B-97 Black team for their great run in the Virginia Mason 2013 Washington State Championship Cup.
The boys topped last years quarter final result with a tremendous effort in the semi final match at Starfire Complex on February 9th versus a very strong Crossfire U15 Academy team. The boys held their own and looked dangerous throughout the match with several chances to score. Both Goalkeepers were in top form with FC Spokane only succumbing in the last seconds of stoppage time at the end of the game.
Congratulations on the outstanding effort boys. You commanded the attention from many people around the State with your tenacity and hard work.

About Elite Player Development (EPD)
Each program that WYS currently run, including ODP, State Pool Training, etc. will still play an integral role in the WYS EPD training program as each individual program provides an important component in players' development. The EPD program will ensure that the best avenues for the development of Elite players here in Washington are created to provide the correct matriculation and education.
Through the EPD, WYS expect to develop more players who will have the technical and tactical skills combined with the creativity to compete at the highest levels. Washington Youth Soccer's / Sounders FC EPD program will develop hundreds of elite athletes across the state aged between 10-17 years old for both boys and girls from all sections of our community. The objective is to develop a precise learning environment for the education and progress of each and every selected player.
The programs under the EPD umbrella include:
- ODP Selected Events
- ODP Annual Programming
- Annual State Pool Training Program
- State pool training schedule for event preparation & development
- Local & Regional Elite Tournaments/College Showcases
- Strategically selected events
